Special Warfare Combat Crewman (SWCC) Plank Owner
Fundraising Campaign
In the United States Navy SEALs, a “Plank Owner” is a member of the original founding crew of a SEAL Team. The term “Plank Owner” is derived from a tradition in the days of wooden ships, when a member of the commissioning crew could take a plank from the ship’s deck after it was decommissioned.

SWCC Community, Family, and Friends,
We are hearing loud and clear that DBGs want to tell their story. And there is no better place to do so than in the new Navy SEAL Museum in San Diego. Scheduled to open in October 2025, SWCC will have a featured exhibition on the second level of the Museum.
Every DBG can play a role in sharing the SWCC story while helping to build the Navy SEAL Museum in San Diego through the SWCC Plank Owner Campaign.
We invite you to join us with this distinct opportunity to be part of a legacy that will motivate and inspire generations of Americans for years to come.
SWCC Plank Owner Campaign
Starting June 2, 2025, we are accepting donations of any size from DBGs, their families and friends to help with the build-out of the Museum.
Your gift, no matter the size, will be added to the total goal for your specific Era or SWCC Class. The goal for an Era is $5,000 and SWCC Class is $1,000.
Gifts can be made to pay tribute to an individual or SWCC Era and Class by loved-ones, classmates, friends, colleagues, and the general public. A gift made in honor or in memory is an extremely meaningful way to praise and show your admiration.

Your name (presented in alphabetical order) without listing the amount of your gift will be listed on the SWCC Plank Owner Campaign Webpage.

FAQs
How will my teammates know that I have given?
We will not list the amount that you’ve given, only that you have given. You can keep track of those from your Class/Era who have given at the same link.
How much do I have to give? Will it count towards my Class/Era?
Can members of my family or friends make a gift to honor or pay tribute to my service and will it count towards my Class/Era contribution?
I don’t like to give online. What are other ways I can give?
1. You can give by writing a check made out to Navy SEAL Museum San Diego and mailing to:
Navy SEAL Museum San Diego
Attn: Development Department
1001 Kettner Blvd. San Diego, CA 92101.
*And remember to add your Class/Era # on your check.
2. If you would like to make a gift through your IRA, Donor Advised Fund, or give a gift of securities, please contact kimrhinehelder@navysealmuseumsd.org.
Can I get a tax deduction?
Yes, the Navy SEAL Museum San Diego is an official nonprofit 501(c)(3) charity. Our Tax ID number for your tax records is 59-2569073.
Can I make monetary installments?
Yes, to make installments, please contact Kim Rhinehelder at kimrhinehelder@navysealmuseumsd.org. She will walk you through how to make that happen.
Is there one person coordinating my Class/Era?
Some classes have a designated individual who has volunteered to take on the role of being the leader for the Class. Not all classes have a leader. If you’d like to be the leader for your Class, contact Hector Delgado at hectordelgado@navysealmuseumsd.org so that he can help you strategize.
I made a gift, but my name does not appear on the webpage. Why not?
Thank you so much for your gift. The webpage is updated twice per week on Mondays and Fridays. Please revisit the site to see your name listed. We appreciate your patience. If you have additional questions, please reach out via email to kimrhinehelder@navysealmuseumsd.org.
